Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston is the youngest of four children born in Newark, NJ on the 9th of August in 1963. The parents of Whitney are gospel singer Cissy Houston - born Emily Lee Drinkard - and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick was also a singing sensation. As a young girl, Houston started singing professionally in the church of New Hope Baptist in Newark with her mom singing on Chaka K's Im Every Woman in 1978. In 1981, she briefly did a stint as a model, appearing on the Seventeen album cover. She also performed backing vocals to Jermaine and Lou Rawls. In 1983, Material, the New York City funk-rock band Material recruited her to be their featured singer. Their talent was the reason she was enthused to join the major label Arista. Whitney Houston's debut Whitney Houston album was released in 1985. It would become one of the most successful albums by an artist. It featured a number of hits such as How Will I Know You Love Me and Saving all My Love For you and the most loved love of all. The album helped her reach seven US chart-topping singles consecutively. Album sold in US 3,000,000 copies and then reached 25 million world-wide. This earned her the first in her six Grammys. Its Whitney 1987 album, with Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as popular songs, added to the success she had achieved. It was The Bodyguard 1992 which cemented her reputation as one the most well-known artists in the world. The movie and her role as a character was not well received, but the soundtrack and her rendition of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You were charted for months in the charts, and she sold more than 44 million albums and singles all over the world. Her daughter Bobbi was born in March of 1993, the year following her wedding to Bobby Brown. In the same year the drug use was documented, and she began using daily until 1996.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchorwoman, reporter, as well as a political correspondent.
